The 2021 MTUG Summit has been Canceled

After careful monitoring of the current Covid-19 pandemic situation in Maine, following multiple board/committee meetings and consultation with public health and facility advisors, it saddens us all at MTUG to announce we will be canceling our in-person I.T. Summit & Tradeshow on Oct. 5th, 2021. Our next scheduled I.T. Summit & Tradeshow will be Thursday, May 26, 2022.

About our decision:
While we worked to install numerous precautions, including mandatory masking, vaccination/testing, and limits on event crowding, the enhanced transmissibility of the Covid-19 Delta variant has changed the risk calculations. The current surge’s health impact particularly among groups and regions where vaccination rates are still low or not yet possible has strained our local health care and school systems. Therefore, this new and still unpredictable situation compels us to cancel our in-person event so we don’t contribute to further community transmission, for the health and well-being of our constituents, their families, and the broader Maine community.

What’s Next?
The MTUG staff and volunteer board are currently working on a selection of opportunities for our community to engage the MTUG audience – as time passes, we realize that these options are even more important -- especially for our tech vendor participants. Our goals are to provide integrated education and sponsorship opportunities on a monthly basis, with a focus on key topics that were to be featured at the Summit, as well as a few vendors each time, in webinar format from now to April, with the possibility of small in-person events as conditions allow (probably early/mid-spring). If you would like to receive Event and Sponsorship information, please sign up for our mailing lists accordingly below.

MTUG Extends a Huge Thanks
to our Summit Sponsors & Exhibitors
continuing from 2020 to 2021!

The 2020 Summit was canceled due to the COVID-19 global pandemic. Thankfully, many 2020 Sponsors and Exhibitors graciously committed to continue their presence at the Summit for 2021 This has been a huge help in making sure we could continue to plan a successful 2021 Summit!

Summit Workshops
Thanks to All Submitters of Workshop Proposals!

The MTUG Board of Directors is currently reviewing the set of proposals we received this spring (June 30 due date). Our goal is to update all submitters on their proposal's status by late July. Stay tuned!

Did you miss the Workshop RFP Period? No worries! MTUG accepts workshop, "Peers & Beers" and Webinar proposals *all year long*!

Successful proposals feature strong "end-user" voices --> these are IT professionals or technology implementers working for NON-tech-sales companies, including independent experts that are not affiliated with an IT-sales organization. Another way to look at it: If your presentation involves a service or product you sell, you should have a cospeaker who does not sell that service/product (ie: customer / independent expert). In this way, MTUG has provided our constituents access to independent voices addressing technology challenges from a first-hand, unfettered point of view, for over 30 years.

Anyone can submit a workshop proposal, and submitting a proposal is free! We'll soon have an updated ongoing Proposal Form at our "Get Involved" page, but for now please use our Summit Workshop Proposal to submit any idea, any time, for automatic consideration in our future Webinars, "Peers & Beers" events, or even possible openings at the MTUG Summit.

NEW - "End User" Speakers/Co-Speakers may bring one (1) complimentary guest. See workshop RFP guidelines document for details.

COVID-19 Safety Statement: MTUG will work to provide reduce the risk of transmission at our event as much as possible. We will follow federal and state guidance and health official recommendations. Attendees, including sponsors, exhibitors, and speakers, are subject to health safety protocols MTUG may deem best to implement at the time, including but not limited to maskwearing, social distancing, and possibly vaccination requirements. The COVID-19 Pandemic is an evolving situation, and we appreciate your patience as we navigate rules and guidance to ensure a healthy and successful event for all. Please contact Kate Carpenter at 207-370-5327 if you have any questions.
