No. The Maine Technology Users Group is an independent, 501(c)6 nonprofit organization dedicated to bringing technology professionals together for education and networking. While we are a 501(c)6 organization (similar to many other professional groups) we do not charge a membership fee. Our programs are open to the public. To partake in our programs, please sign up for event announcements, and join us! Most programming throughout the year is free, and our attendance at our annual Summit and Tradeshow is kept affordable.
No. The Maine Technology Users Group is not affiliated directly with companies. Our audience, also known as our constituency, are technology professionals and enthusiasts who live and work in Maine and Northern New England. We work to maintain independence from industry groups through managed board representation and a practice of bringing independent voices to our workshops and events.
Generally, the MTUG board is split between "vendor" technology professionals (those who work for tech sales and service organizations) and "end-user" technology professionals (those who work for NON-sales/service organizations, such as financial, retail, manufacturing companies, schools, hospitals, nonprofits, and governments). MTUG's events and activities are supported by sponsors and exhibitors at our I.T. Summit & Tradeshow, as well as periodic sponsors at our Peers & Beers events throughout the year.
However, sponsors, exhibitors and even board membership does not include or guarantee access to workshop speaking roles. All our workshops are screened and approved by the board, with an emphasis on finding unique, independent voices who can bring first-person technology implementation experiences to the MTUG audience. For our annual I.T. Summit and Tradeshow, workshops are chosen typically through a competitive process open to all.
Attendance at MTUG events and viewing of MTUG webinars is open to all technology professionals and enthusiasts working with or living in Maine and Northern New England -- essentially, we provide a public education service. MTUG webinars and workshop speakers are volunteers, usually from Maine or who work closely with Maine organizations. MTUG makes a strong effort to have tech professionals from non-sales organizations be part of each event (vendors can present as well, but should bring a co-speaking "end-user"). Our speakers hail from the I.T. departments of a wide array of industries, including healthcare, retail, manufacturing, financial services, education, nonprofit services, government, and more.
Please note: MTUG sponsors and exhibitors do not have speaking spots as part of sponsorship/exhibit packages. However, they are welcome to apply to be a speaker with the above form, as well as with our annual IT Summit workshop RFP process (RFP goes out in January for a May event).
No. MTUG does not have paid memberships; our events and activities are open to all Maine and Northern New England technology professionals and enthusiasts. For basic attendance most events are free, and only our annual IT Summit & Tradeshow has a small attendance fee.
Sponsorship opportunities are available to help you promote your organization to MTUG's constituency of thousands of technology professionals.
