About MTUG

MTUG Brings Information Technology Professionals Together!

MTUG brings together interested individuals in the Maine technology and telecommunications industries for education, information, and networking.

MTUG participants include end-users, vendors, consultants, government officials, and other parties who care about issues that affect the information technology, technology infrastructure, and telecommunications across Maine and northern New England.

Participation in MTUG is free of charge.

MTUG provides these services through:

  • Free monthly educational meetings by online webinar, or through periodic "Peers & Beers" events in various locations statewide.
  • Our annual Information Technology Summit & Tradeshow, Maine's largest business technology conference, held in Portland each spring.
  • Online archives of past events, which include recorded webinar videos, and downloadable presentations.
  • A LinkedIn discussion board with 1000 members.
  • A technology job board featuring a broad array of technology job postings.
  • Links to other technology user groups, technology education resources, and technology advocacy groups and resources.
  • A directory of Technology Vendors available on our website.

Visit our Get Involved with MTUG page for more information about participating with MTUG events and activities!

Over 30 years ago, in January 1987, under the sponsorship of the University of Southern Maine, representatives from various Maine businesses and organizations established the Maine Telecommunications Users Group. In the winter of 2013, MTUG’s name was changed to the Maine Technology Users Group to better reflect the scope of issues it addresses, and changes in the industry.

MTUG is a 501(c)6 nonprofit organization with an educational mission opened to the entire Maine community of technology professionals and enthusiasts. MTUG events are supported by generous sponsorships at our annual tradeshow and periodically at other events throughout the year. Sponsorships are unaffiliated with MTUG workshop topics. Presentating at MTUG events is free -- MTUG workshop presenters and topics are chosen by MTUG's volunteer Board of Directors.
