MTUG presents the 2020 Co-Sponsored Technology Scholarship Awards!

As the 2020 MTUG Summit had to be canceled, we are honoring 2020 co-sponsored technology scholarship award recipients and our special honoree in our remarks below. We will also be celebrating our recipients in our late summer webinars. Please share in our celebration at these links!

Thank you so much for helping us Share the Celebration!

MTUG has worked with Maine-invested businesses for 9 years to raise scholarships for students in year 3 or 4 of a technology related program in the University of Maine System, with grants available for up to two years. We are grateful to our 2020 donors for their generous contributions, and to the University of Maine Foundation for administering the program. This year, 9 sponsors donated $8,500 toward 10 scholarships. Together with MTUG's partial match of five hundred dollars per donor contribution and an additional 2 awards MTUG was able to direct in special recognition of our honoree, the 2020 Scholarship Program bestowed grants to a total of 12 recipients, for a value of $15,900 in scholarships this year!

Our 2020 donors are:
Connectivity Point, Consolidated Communications, Lincolnville Communications, Maine Employers Mutual Insurance (MEMIC), Norway Savings Bank, OTELCO, Systems Engineering, Tyler Technologies (two scholarships), and WEX
- also recognized with logos below.
Thank you so much to all of our generous donors!

Special 2020 MTUG Scholarship Honoree. This year MTUG was able to directly fund 2 scholarships in honor of long-time board member and MTUG Scholarship Liaison, Dr. Ron Brown, for his unwavering efforts to raise awareness of this program, and directly approach each of our corporate co-sponsors for the last nine years (you can read more about Ron's lifelong contributions to the tech/telecom community in his MTUG Board bio here). Through his efforts, since 2012, MTUG has raised $49,000 through our Corporate Co-Sponsors, to which MTUG has added matches totaling $30,400, allowing the program to provide scholarships to 62 recipients totaling $79,400!

Thank you so much, Ron, for your amazing work, dedication, and contributions, without which none of this would have been possible!!

Lastly, our special thanks go to Holly Hatch, Dee Gardner, the University of Maine Foundation staff, and their partners in UMaine's Office of Student Financial Aid. In spite of work-from-home and other pandemic challenges, they worked diligently to organize and allocate this year's scholarships. You all are awesome!
