  • IT Support Technician

    Provide technical assistance to computer system users. Answer questions or resolve computer problems for clients in person, via telephone, or remotely. May provide assistance concerning the use of computer hardware and software, including printing, installation, word-processing, electronic mail, and operating systems.  Triage incoming support requests.

    • Monitor and respond to technical support requests in a timely and effective manner
    • Identifies, researches, and resolves hardware and software problems in a multiple platform environment
    • Documents, tracks, and monitors problems to ensure a timely resolution
    • Supports installation, administration, and troubleshooting for hardware services (such as personal computers, printers, routers, switches) as well as technical support structures (such as telco racks, power management, cabling, etc.)
    • Assist in keeping IT inventory, hardware maintenance database, and other IT tools current and accurate
    • Provide technical support including end-user training and documentation
    • Assist with the maintenance (installation, troubleshooting, upgrading) of all corporate applications.
    • Work effectively with service providers and support vendors.

    Education, Experience and Skills:

    • 2-5 years technical experience with certificate or degree in PC/network field or equivalent work experience
    • Intermediate knowledge of personal computer hardware and software, including networking and multiple Windows operating systems
    • MCITP, MCTS, and/or A+ certification would be considered an asset
    • Proven troubleshooting skills including hands-on, phone, and ability to provide support to remote locations.
    • Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 lbs on a regular basis, to stand for several hours at a time, and have the flexibility and agility to perform installations (e.g., crawl under desks or behind work units)
    • Must possess excellent interpersonal and time-management skills.

  • Information Systems Support Specialist II - 20 hrs per week

    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Associates Degree in Information Technology and up to, and including, four years’ experience in an Information Technology or related discipline.  Equivalent experience may be substituted for education on a year for year basis.

    RESPONSIBILITIES: Under limited supervision, performs technical support and administrative functions across the complete range of technologies supported by the Information Technology  department requiring a vast knowledge of multiple user and server hardware and software environments. An employee in this classification performs day-to-day trouble shooting, research and proactive maintenance tasks on classroom audiovisual and computing equipment, staff and faculty enterprise applications, requiring a broad technical background.  The individual has responsibility for, but not limited to: discreet areas of operation, user account support, and timely resolution of computer equipment issues.  

    This position will also be responsible for installing and configuring wired and wireless network and support infrastructures, be capable of diagnosing and resolving communications, security, hardware and operating systems problems, and will research and test new systems to support academic and administrative needs. 

    •    Duties require knowledge of local area networks
    •    Knowledge of research techniques, proper micro/minicomputer system data security and backup procedures
    •    Knowledge of Institution procedures and standards
    •    Ability to install micro and minicomputer hardware and software
    •    Load and optimize utilization of advanced micro/minicomputer software and operation systems
    •    Troubleshoot computer system failures and diagnose computer system problems
    •    The ability to conduct training classes on system operations and software
    •    Ability to consult with agency staff and manager on best usage of micro/minicomputer system
